Microsoft Software As Service Already Behind
The AOL announcement dovetails nicely whith cingular who rolled out the Nokia 9300 service finally in Seattle this week.

My Nokia 9300 is GSM (global System Moble) and I have long speculated (well for at least 2 years) that Microsoft has lobbied against the technology because it really is software as a service and Microsoft has long wanted to establish competing technology based on WI-FI and WinCE.

The whole Blackburry business also competes with where Microsoft wants us to go and new adds for the Nokia 9300 claim it is enabled with "blackberry connect".

The Nokia 9300 device IS NOT WIFI - it is GSM and uses the EU standard which we all know is not the most advanced but is the most popular. It also gives you the full Internet experience in its browser. I need to find out its status with a Java Virtual Machine.

The 9300 also is likely not the most advanced laptop-like experience in a phone. I really need to get across the pond to see those. Sigh. But if Microsoft wants to play they need to get onto the ball field fast. We all need to do research in this area. Most businesses and government agencies will be getting out of the email business if they can because it is a resource intensive affair that requires not only a network speciallist but also a virus specialist. It also dovtails nicely with phone network service already purchased for the business. The Future Looks Bright for Java developers. - get shades.

Happy Cinco De Mayo
