Im in the UK too, and i use a little program that logs into my hotmail and acts as a local mail server, allowing you to use any email client to download my hotmail messages as if it were a pop3 account.

I started using Outlook to access my Hotmail before they bought in the Premium charges, which is why i presume im still able to do this. ive tried setting my partners account up in the same way and get an error message back from the hotmail server saying she would need to buy the premium services to do what im doing already.

Having read this article though, im quite worried. I didnt realise the Live beta was a wholescale upgrade to Hotmail, and from comments further up the page it sounds like i may loose the functionality i have at present?

If so, then thats me over and out for hotmail. i want my emails on my computer, and then if theres a connection outage, at least i have my years-old archive of emails still accessible. And if the house burns down and i loose them, well thats my fault. At least i know no-one else has got them...
