Revenue? Hotmail needs ad revenue? Why? Doesn't Microsoft already make enough revenue with Windows and Office?

Alas, that's the whole story of Microsoft. Ignoring their customers until pressured. IE6/7 is the same way - Microsoft sat on its laurels until Firefox began stealing market share. Only then did they start listening to their customers.
