Oh, I agree with you
on the copyright issue. Limited means limited, not ∞ on the installment plan (a 20 year extension passed by the Disney-owned Congress every 20 years, to keep “Steamboat Willie” out of the Public Domain forever). And I agree that it’s for the actual creators only, not publishers, packagers, distributors, marketers, etc. Even back when those companies did what the creators could not do on their own, they were still merely performing services for which they deserved to be paid a fee. They never deserved ownership of the work!

That said, I stand by my criticism of the allegation that Gore ever claimed to have invented the Internet. I’m no fan of Gore, but I hate lies and liars, no matter whose side they’re on. If anything, I hate them more when they’re on my side, because then it makes my side look like it has to resort to lies because the truth doesn’t back us up!

Gore claimed to have led the efforts in the Senate that promoted the development of the Internet, and he did. He did not claim to have had any role in the actual invention of any of the technology of the Internet.
