The real reason for no XXX
According to our government atleast, the "XXX" domain idea was voted against because it could lead to censorship and hamper free speech.

Yes, yes, I know. WTF right? How can they talk about censoring the type of content from children in one breath and about free speech on another?

Well, the truth is, this has nothing to do with internet porn or child pornography. They want in to those ISP's for spying on American citizens. No, not for terrorism either. It's all about control. With this level of spying they can do the following:

(1) Prevent pirating of music and other forms of media. The MPAA, the music industry, and even Microsoft have lobbied hard for this and lined our governments pockets with huges amounts of $$$ in order to get this to happen.

(2) Control media. No more leaks about Apple's "next big nothing". Big corporations can no longer fear not being able to be burned by some little do-gooder.

(3) Stop "alternative" views. These are views that may be outside what our government wants us to believe. Write something bad about Iraq and expect to be suddenly harassed for your internet activity. We can find dirt on you. Just you wait.
