needed if Computer is to replace TV
With standard TV there is no wait for a download. You switch channels and thats it, the stream is available for viewing. Of course you can not pause the stream, or fast forward through it but for quite some time you have been able to record one channel while watching another. That is possible because the recording device also has a TV tuner and newer schemes provide enhanced capabilities.

Switching channels during commercial breaks is about as much interactivity as necessary for many but think about the web and news clips now being presented on the web. The TV metaphore is expected, meaning no or little wait when switching channels or web pages in this case.

Now fast forward to the Turner network subscriber interested in getting old TV shows.

The Gilligan Island set will want Google search capabilities to find the desired episode and then they will want it to start when selected just like those web news clips. While the episode starts downloading that previously cached and processed advertisment is allowed to fly. The concept is wonderful when you and translation service into the mix. Lets see Microsoft make it work.
