- Except for sports who needs live TV
-
I don't watch live TV. I do appreciate the importance of sporting events being live but other shows do not need to be live. The great thing about Tivo and other DVRs is you get to watch a show when you want instead of having to catch them when they are being broadcast. I would love to be able to download everything I watch. Akimbo is a good model for this. If they had all the content I want, I would happily drop cable and just use Akimbo. Actually if it were not for the shows my kids like to watch, I would drop cable now and use broadcast high def. That give you a great signal. It is much better than my current analog signal and it is free.
I think a good model would be to use over the air broadcast high def for live events like sports and get everything else through subscription download over the interent. Actually, Cable providers could open up a lot of bandwidth by using the frequencies currently dedicated to TV for data.
We need to stop trying to impose the current television model on the internet. Networks need to let go of their old models and embrace new models that are evolving. It will be hard to adjust to. Many companies may go out of business but in the long run the consumers will get a better product and companies that embrace the new technologies will do very well. - Posted by: d6564 Posted on: 04/07/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
