This is all about developing countries trying to lay claim to the knowledge contained in the genome simply on the basis that it may reside on their turf. But the reality is that it takes a great deal of time and money to tease the knowledge out of the genome. It is that investment which creates value. And that is what leads to inventions. Such inventions take noting from others. In fact, while it may take some time for those people to benefit it is still in their interests. They are just too stupid to realize this.
