What about private sequencing?
It seems odd to see you saying that it is that tedious and diffficult to sequence an individual when publications in the biopharmaceutical industry are already reporting that startup companies are offering to sequence individuals for a stiff price. The question on that side (where, presumably, they know a bit more about what it takes to sequence than us computer weenies would) is whether this is an expensive designer fad for the very rich, or if there is some potential use for the data.

If you think Moore's law is only changing computers, you've missed a few things. What was cutting edge biochem research last year is already being deployed as off-the-shelf capability this year. Saying that you will not see individual genomic sequences because we cannot do it now is short sighted.
