I agree
I agree, this won't cause any massive problems or anything, as long as it's done properly. Don't make use of the xxx domain a requirement, simply make it available and encourage it's use. When it becomes easier to get to for those people that want to find xxx content, the people that create those sites will probably move to them willingly. It also makes it easier for businesses, librarians, parents, etc to set a filter to keep their kids away from those sites if they choose to do so. The control should remain in the hand of the parent, or business tech person, or librarian.

If we try to make it a requirement for all adult sites to use an xxx domain, then I think it sends a message to the rest of the world that the U.S. is trying to force it's will and it's opinions on the rest of the world. What we see as OK to view by ourselves or our children, are taboo or offensive in some other cultures. Similarly, some of the things the U.S. religious groups or politians or whoever want to keep us or our kids from viewing (or at least make it harder to view), the rest of the world views as perfectly normal and acceptable. We can't force our will and opinions on the rest of the world, then bad mouth China for filtering site's it's citizens are able to get to. Doing so undermines the ability of the US to spread democracy or encourage changes in human rights in countries like China.
