why do parents choose to not take responsibility?
Why do you choose to abdicate your parental responsibilty and try to pass this off to someone else? The internet is a large space, it includes content from many different countries with different perspectives on what is acceptable content. I do realize that for American parents (since this is an American bill), pictures of someone being shot in the face, dragged through the streets, mutilated or some other form of violence upon people is far more acceptable than depictions of (typically) pleasurable experiences (anatomical, sexual, etc.).

You appear to dismiss that the Internet is global in reach. Having one domain (.xxx or whatever) will only go over (maybe) for those that are concerned with those views of said parent. What about content from domains outside of US boundaries (.de, .cz, .it, etc., related localized subdomains, ...). What other areas offend you that you feel should be "roped off" so you can abdicate your job as a parent while your child(ren) explore the graphical aspect of the Internet?

The Adult entertainment industry (globally) has taken measures to corden off content, but keep in mind that they have been on the Internet since at least 1994, whereas those that are advocating this type of domain probubly have not been. They have already placed access restrictions (typically tied to adult vericfication systems, acces systems where you have to pay to get in, etc.). They have even gone to lengths to verify the ages of the participants that one views (as per 18 U.S.C. Section 2257). It is your responsbility to parent your child!

Gaming is another adults only market, are you going to advocate that there be a domain specific to this global market as well? What about health education? By whose sensibilities do you wish to hold to (or hold others to)? Remember, your children are your responsibility and not that of the global community or any given market that has complied with the laws and restrictions that have already been set for them!
