You are also partially correct, but you also have to take into account how many parents bring 3, 4, 5 year old children into an R-rated movie with them.

That is a HELL of a lot, from what I have seen.

Seeing violence or porn has no effect on children, other than to want to try the things that they see. When they try them, and realize they hurt (violence) or feel good (porn), they don't want or want to do those things again.

The real worry that these puritans have, is that because children can see sexual activity easily and from an early age, they will grow up to see it as normal (which it is!) and do it while they are children, and will reject the religious and sexual conservatism of the adults and politicians in adulthood.

They are not worried about protecting children, they are worried about keeping them beholden to their warped beliefs.
