That is exactly what they telcos are going for. I am moving my office and this is what Verizon told me: that base line charge is to "get dialtone" only. All calling / internet services are then on top of that. Then, the dynamic DSL is $49 and the static DSL is $71. There is no escaping this trend unless telcos are brought under control.

All the innovative service providers are going to be driven out of business by these ever growing telco oligarchies. For those of us old enough to remember the MaBell break up, we've lived to see the worst come back around.

I live in a rural area. The computer, internet and faster connections are necessary to my work. It's a nightmare to deal with these companies and they are just sticking it to the consumer at an increasingly rapid pace.

Watch out for your wallet!
