VoIP is minimal data.
VoIP uses less data than most online games.

In fact, several online games -include- VoiP for their players to talk voice to each other- it's just not called VoIP.

Let me ask you this... when was the last time you had slow throughput?

I get bound by overloaded servers but never by overloaded pipes. And that's on a 6mbps line. Overseas, they have 100mbps lines.

VoIP uses about 30 k per second max for a clear signal.

The problem is that the internet is very good at moving HUGE amounts of data around and the Telcos have a model where they charge a huge amount of money to move a tiny amount of data around. In the end-- data is data.

You can easily move a gigabyte per day per person and the network isn't even strained- and that's with wimpy pipes - not with fiber- with pure fiber we could be moving 50 gigabytes per day per person without negatively impacting it.

You could talk all day on your phone-- to ANYWHERE in the world (since data is just data once it gets on the net) and you would be generating roughly 1mb per two minutes or 30mb per hour or 760mb per day (that's talking 24 hours straight).
