Do you even need a Telco anymore?
Get your internet access from a cable company or some other source. Then get VOIP and soon TV channels via that same source.

I live in a small city where I can get the internet from 5 different providers and two more are coming in to compete sometime this year. The telco is just one option and if they don't want my internet business then tough cookies. They can suffer with out my phone service payments and continue to profit off my internet or they can lose me as customer entirely.

With WiMax coming this will open the door to all kinds of competition. WiMax providers are the two companies coming this year, August is the estimated time of service being provided. Let the Telcos put both feet into the grave if they want to charge extra for services.
