- Evolution Requires Inovation
-
Net neutrality regulations will stifle the natural evolution of the internet nurtured by a competitive marketplace.
The internet was created through the evolutionary process of innovation. No great user-friendly application is created over night. It takes years of development and years of "working-out-the-bugs."
We've seen that development with the internet. Just 10 years ago, dial up internet connections were deathly slow. However, with the introduction of broadband access through cable and DSL, consumers demanded that slow dial up "catch up."
Through market forces we readily have high-speed connections available to us. Dial up connections have greatly improved connection speeds. The broadband speed that was once unique, is now commonplace.
The introduction of new internet technology funded by user premiums is not a good idea, it is a great idea. Competition for new faster connection speeds will force the price of those services down, and over time, increase the speed of everyone's connection.
The FCC should monitor internet connection providers to ensure that there is not price gouging, or predatory actions taken against specific consumer, but blockading this new technology would be a disservice to all Americans. - Posted by: jrice70 Posted on: 03/21/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
