Does Google desktop pose a risk to a companies data.

1) IF google desktop is caching data from your corporate environment on there servers then that constitutes an unacceptable risk to your data.

That's it that's all folks... a company needs to protect it's data.... do you want google desktop installed on your bankers computers so that your data can end up cached on a google server?

IT has to make decisions based on risk vs reward. If there is a risk does the increase in productivity or benefit provided outweigh that risk... is there a way to mitigate that risk WITHOUT outright banning the product. Is it worth the time or resources to truly research it or just use GPO or other solutions to block it.

Personally... I've done some of the research... use copernic... it's better...
