"Ware said that the reduced demand coupled with the government's "willingness to compensate Google" for up to eight days of its programmers' time had convinced him to grant the Justice Department at least some of what it had requested."

It's a good thing Google have 8 engineers just sitting around with nothing to do but respond to government requests for information. Else whatever they are doing now on behalf of customers won't get done for the next 8 days while assisting the gov't on its joy-ride fishing expedition for the sole benefit of lawyers.
