MUMPS

Our current Enterprise-wide healthcare system is totally MUMPS...some of it derived into a variation. I'm not old enough to have worked with it the first time around. Seems most of the large integrated system in use even today...at least in healthcare, not sure about other vertical markets...are old monolithic systems. What we have is extremely popular and selling like crazy. There is still the character based version and client/server version we have. With the PolyForth derived system we used through 1999, the source was able to be licensed to the organization. I truely enjoyed programming with it until they sunset the system. There are still a good crop of Forth sites out there..not sure of the most popular version these days.
I find that Google may be gaining revenue in a new and unique way, but I'm not so sure it's a positive thing for IT in general. I don't think of selling ads as a pure IT function. I'm not sure posting back false pages is all that squeaky clean either. If you claim to have high standards, I just don't see how you can talk around that decision.
