I don't have to do anything to make him a laughing stock, he manages that quite well himself. He has a long history of touting bugs found in Microsoft's products as proof of what great work they do while at the same time pointing to bugs found in other software products as proof that they're inferior. He's a shill, there's no other way to describe him.

MUMPS, huh? Not many people still around who have ever heard of that. I did some MUMPS interfacing a long time ago. PICK too. It amazes me that PICK (through the now IBM owned UniVerse product line) seems to be making a comeback. I always felt like forcing data typing on the developer instead of having the DBMS handle it was a bad design decision, but multi-valued design seems to be a really good fit with XML.

As for Google, their focus is crystal compared to Microsoft so far. They haven't ventured into gaming consoles, ERP systems, operating systems or EDI. Their Google Desktop I think was venturing into an area where they shouldn't be trying to play in. Googles strenghts clearly fall into the area of "hosted services". Anything ouside of that umbrella should be avoided at all cost.
