I'd wondered how Mozilla had been able to improve their ability to distribute patches and new versions. Here's where the money came from.

Good for them.

ZDNet had reported the problem with slow, erratic downloads, but not how the problem had been solved.

Do you think that's because the idea of any organization making money from software is so repugnant to the reporters that they'd prefer not to think about it?
