I don't think that any reasonable person thinks or wants Microsoft to disappear...ever. The reality is that Microsoft will continue to lose market share to open source 'nix. Where it will even out is anyones guess at this time. Several distributions are credible replacements for Microsoft now, and as they gain traction, first in the corporate world, things should get interesting.
