So let me get this straight...

Google doesn't force anyone to download their software, there are plenty of other programs out there that can cause a security risk as big as or even bigger than Google Desktop. Furthermore, Google isn't marketing this program as an enterprise application (notice they are coming out with a separate enterprise edition). It's just more sensationalism which seems to be getting more and more common on ZDNet/CNet these days. It is the job of the IT department to control what the clients have access to on their machines, and if that means denying the clients access to certain websites or programs that could potentially be hazardous, they need to take appropriate action; this has nothing to do with Google Desktop.
