Ah, "level the playing field" - What an idea!

I believe the poster 'Xkmail' is saying this; They are addressing the needs of the marketer and the ISP, but what about ?me? - the consumer? After all, it?s the consumer's value that everyone wants to control. In fact, this is the reason for spam in general. Everyone wants to profit from the value of the consumer's eyes - yet no one wants to give the consumer control over their personal value. (And they just continue to shoot themselves in the foot - eg: the emergence of many personal media options such as TiVo and PodCasting, to name a few.

Consumers are a vital (and integral part) of the value of email. Without the consumer, there would be no spam! The Yahoo, AOL adoption of GoodMail is a misguided attempt at increasing profits, and as usual with zero control given to the entity responsible for the profits in the first place.
