Lack of knowledge in any area, your choices are limited
If you are an informed customer, you can make better choices. OSS contributed to Sixpack's ignorance or limited his choices by not making themselves known out of IT circles. But he sure can find flaws by abusing the product in ways that the designers could not even dream of. Same thing in other products.

Next time OSS should involve the retail folks as Beta drivers and take their critism as a way to improve the product instead of belittling them as ignorant. The retail folks know they are ignorant. They don't want their noses rubbed into it.

They should have a blog to report bugs that could be maintained by semi technical types to inform programmers of what is happening in Disneyland. We all know technical people lack people skills. Those technical bug reports are really in a semi laboratory where the users are more careful than the Sixpacks at large.
