You miss the forest
by just looking at the trees. If their battle is so hopeless, then
why is everybody, specially Microsoft, playing catch up on
Google? They're building a platform, a very big one, where each
component falls right in its place.

".... classic mistake of a company not sticking to its core
competency (i.e. search)..." By this argument, Apple should have
stuck to their core competency (building computers and
proprietary software for them) instead of taking over the internet
music and mp3 player markets. Just my 2 cents.
