You can not stop people from sharing files because some files might be
illegal to share. Maybe trucks should also be illegal since they can be use to transport stolen goods. If users put stuff on the network for anybody to download, and it includes copyrighted material, they will get a court date. Of course if they only make is sharable to friends, the RIAA or MPAA will not be able to detect it unless a friend welches on them. But, people have the right to share photo albums and home videos even if other people might abuse the technology. Heck, even email can be used to transport copyrighted material. That should be illegal too.
