Preferences vs. new -

Just to start off - two declarations - (1) I've never used itunes, (2) I detest MS just on general principles.

That gotten out of the way - The two players I'm familiar with are MusicMatch (MM) and Window Media Player (WMP).

I'm forced to use WMP at work because the admins (wisely) restrict users to minimal priviledges, and I can't load anything else. I used (and still use) MM at home because it's the first I tried.

WMP has a few advantages - I can easily find the total time of a playlist, and it's easy to export the playlist to a file for later manipulation.

MM (at least the free version) doesn't show total time, or allow export of the playlist. It's main advantage (at least for me) is the ability to remember where I left off on a playlist, and restart there on the next startup. (some of my playlists run in excess of 15 hours). A second advantage of MM is the ability to rip to mp3, where WMP makes that a pain, prefering the propriatory format. I suppose that I should upgrade to MM Pro to get some features that I'm missing.

I suppose it's what you get used to that sets your later judgements, and colors your experiences with other products.
