Based on Firefox technology ...
'Lord's new five-person company, the ambitiously named Pioneers of the Inevitable, is building a piece of digital-music software called "Songbird," based on much of the same underlying open-source technology as the Firefox Web browser.'

Which means it'll probably run pretty slow and have lots of memory leaks.
Really, what we need is a player like iTunes/MusicMatch that's fast and MODULAR, so that only the parts load that need to load at any given time. For example, when you're using it simply to play audio files, it should consume as little RAM & system resources as possible. Only load the CD ripping/burning modules and other parts when you need them.
And PLEASE don't f**k up the interface .. just a standard native skin that's fast and light, ok? None of this fancy 'only runs smoothly if you have a Cray supercomputer' multi-colored, glossy crap. If it doesn't run decently on a low-end P3, it's too slow.
