Of course you can JJ
JJ: try asking Amazon, or eBay, or Google, or FedEx, or Schwab, or just about anyone. In fact, we ALL rely on internet based applications.

With on-premises applications, the risk variables are not less -- they're just managed and mitigated by different people.

If a Salesforce.com customer has to close for the day because they can't get access to their on-demand application, then their risk planning and business continuity planning sucks. There are plenty of workarounds that could have been put in place, but it seems like lots of Salesforce.com customers thought that outsourcing their application hosting meant they were outsourcing responsibility for business continuity.

If I was CEO, I'd be screaming at my CIO for ignoring the risks of outsourcing (and at the same time, I'd ensure my CFO screams at Salesforce for as many service credits as we could get!)
