Smoke Bomb
The point stands, Microsoft is a solid investment, Google, at the moment, seems to
be a good short term investment. Whether it remains a good investment remains to be
seen since it is just beginning to get competition, no one knows how it will fare.

Bomb? More like a smoke bomb. What makes it interesting to me is that it simply repeats the same old rethoric about MS we?ve been hearing for
years. It totally disregards that with every release, MS gets better and stronger. And it totally disregards the facts of the court proceedings.

The fact is that Microsoft went court under the anti-trust laws. (Whether you view
That as right or wrong is another story entirely.) The court found Microsoft guilty
of illegally protecting its monopoly. The court then imposed a number of sanctions.
Many of those were thrown out when the original judge was replaced. The court then
issued new sanctions. Now, the court appointed watchdog is satisfied that Microsoft is complying
with the sanctions and is not engaging in unfair practices.
End of freakin? story. Get over it.
Microsoft is doing just what it should do to compete and, as usual, is doing it well.

Here?s some thoughts to dwell on?Java usage is declining, .NET programming is up 46%. Microsoft just took over the mid range server market for the first time in history and took over the lead at a time when most analysts were predicting that MS would lose market share to Linux. Gates was not only named ?Person of the Year? but in
a survey of 600 CEO?s around the world, he headed the list for leadership, long term planning and innovation. That should give you an indication of how business leaders view Microsoft. Windows XP SP2 just received level 4 security certification. And despite the unsuccessful attacks on the certification authority, the news has been well recieved by the business world. And that?s where it counts.

If you listen to what you hear in the tech media (like this) or comments or lists like Slashdot, you?d swear Microsoft was going to hell in a hand basket. If you take a real objective look outside of the tech world and into the real world of business and government, you find that Microsoft is doing just fine.
