You are correct on several counts, depends on the mirror
The fact that looking back MSFT is $298 Billion now and has
split so many times that would be good advice to go with based
on history. And that MS has crushed almost everything but
software errors and security bugs along the way seems to
indicate they might be able to counter Google someday. I dont
rule them out as a good fighter, but a lousy follower of rules,
lest they be the ones they want to make, or wish to break.

That said, GOOG mkt cap is $131 BIL which is almost half of
MSFT, the split, or stock buy backs, or reverse splits coming for
GOOG are sure to put it on par, or even possibly exceed what
MSFT did, and there was little govt intervention or competition
then, compared to now, so both companies have a hard time in
these economic climates, but GOOG is doing what MS has done,
and is doing it better, open terms, that do not hinder other parts
of the tech economy.

MS has surely helped grow many sectors, while subsequently
stomping on as many as they see fit, this is not the type of
future proof business method that will work for me.

I bought both stocks last month as an experiment and an
investment, the fact that MSFT was once a high flyer is notable,
the fact that on a daily basis they are laggards, for a lack of
better words, they cannot execute their way out of a paper bag,
the writing is on the wall, they are losing their edge. If not for
vendor lockin, patent suits, and countersuits etc, they might be
less a competitor in the future, and although I invested as a risk,
and venture, I bring more interest to this fight of 2 tech giants,
than many others on these posts, who do lots of talking but little
experimentation with other OS types, or any comparison other
than a religious view of how great the next windows update, and
bug fix is going to be.

It is just for humor that I drop the bombs on this post, it gets
the windows people, thinking, or ruffled, or worse, but no
matter, Its all about opinion, and we all have one, or more, dont
we?
