You know...
I don't agree with the un-warranted wiretaps either. But the whole anti-Bush thing and blaming him for the bad intelligence is a bid old and tired. I do support the war, because clearly Iraq is better off for it, though it will take time and has had difficulties. And it has benefitted the rest of the world by enabling us to fight terrorists on their own turf, since they horded to Iraq to fight us there. Not everything Bush has done was right. But many good decisions have been made, and are also becoming clearer over time. Keep in mind that softness in foreign policy during the Clinton administration is a big factor in some of the problems the U.S. is now facing. That administration failed to appropriately handle Somalia, the U.S.S. Cole, the first WTC car-bombing, and also did nothing to stop the genocide in Sudan. This all made anti-American groups (al Q) feel that America no longer had the willpower to stand up and fight. They view us as corrupt and soft.

My word to you is to let your reps know you oppose the wiretapping. Don't lay down for the causes where Bush is wrong. But don't be confused either by the liberal line that the war is wrong, that Bush is a total failure and demagogue. He is at least correct in the general principle that we need to have the guts to fight back and finish the job. Support him on that general principle, and oppose the particular tactics within it that don't pass muster.
