I think USA sc*w*d itself

I got an email from a USA site I'd swapped links with announcing it had a new owner and exciting plans for the future.

Then I got an apology email from them, saying that the email list came from a previous owner and they were very sorry for the previous email and didn't know how the names came to be on the list and the list would be destroyed immediately.

Basically he didn't know that there had been previous email exchanges, didn't know he had a right under CAN-SPAM to email me, and because the penalties are so high he killed a marketing channel he had, damaging his own business.

Meanwhile Chinese companies send me stuff all the time and don't think twice about it. If Polystyrene Orange slices are your thing, I can connect you to 2 suppliers. I can't connect you to any US suppliers, they're all too scared to email me.

Hasn't decreased my weekly spam folder size one bit. The solution to spam has always been client side filtering in my view:
