Really?
Apparently the people that shelled out between $600 and
$3.400 seem to care. There is one part of this article that is very
misleading. There are many of these potentially defective units
that are not opened yet. Just look on ebay, there are many listed.
How many parents bought these for their kids christmas
presents? How is it going to look, on christmas day when the
unit fails? The 20% figure is probably more accurate than the 2%
to 3% figure Microsoft is claiming. I wish there was an accurate
way of getting the numbers. I read on C-Net, that some people
were complaining of disk scratching. Having to replace a $50
disk is not a good thing. This sounds like a defective DVD drive,
yet it's not listed here. Granted buying any first run device is a
risk, but quality control is something that has to be worked on.
This goes for every company, not just Microsoft.
