Hi, Anton.

If you can find anyone who likes FireFox as a product rather than as an alternative to IE there
might be a book in it.

Indeed. The fact is, I'd be willing to bet that everyone who has used Firefox looks at it as at least partially an IE alternative, because they've almost certainly tried IE first. (It comes installed on Windows machines out of the box.) That doesn't mean, however, that it's an either/or situation. People can think of Firefox both as an IE alternative and as a better browser.

I've got IE 7 beta 1 on my machine right now, and as of this moment, it wouldn't change my mind about which to run. The tabbed browsing isn't as elegant as that in Firefox, and ActiveX is still part of the equation. And Firefox is customizable out-of-the-box in ways IE simply isn't. Add that to the incestuous relationship between IE and Windows, and it would be very difficult for me to picture switching back.

That's not to say IE is bad at everything. I do use IE when I want to upload files to my site. The integrated FTP makes my life easier, in that regard. But for everything else, it's Firefox all the way.
