Again, huh?
No offense, bhar..whatever, but it seems like you're not seeing the common thread: money. Cash. Profit. I guarantee the Rolling Stones didn't donate their services to Microsoft. The reason you see adverts for Microsoft software everywhere online is because Microsoft pays for that exposure. Mozilla is a not-for-profit organization. It takes a major fundraising drive to afford to hold the meeting to discuss how to compete with Microsoft on the advertising front. That's an inherent problem with the Open Source business model, and probably why Linux has such a small share of the desktop OS market.

It was a great achievement for Firefox to have their ad run in the Times (whose readership is world-wide, not just New Yorkers), and I'm sure they can credit that with several million of their downloads. Rigfht now, Firefox is taking the only kind of 'advertising' it can afford: publicity.
