AOL forces friends on AIM customers

Unless you are using the AIM network on GAIM et al you won't see the new buddies.

You are paying AOL nothing for providing you a communication service if you're just an instant messenger account holder, so their buddy list approach is not a bad one really. I can choose to add/delete them and if they help keep the service free to use....
