On the subject of "rights"
People these days have a twisted notion of rights. Just because the internet has become very useful does not mean any one person has a "right" to use it. Whether its selfish of anyone to not share ownership is a different question. If that person or group is not denying anything you need (food, clothing, shelter, just treatment in courts), or taking anything you own, you have no claim on their decision to retain ownership. Rights are those things which all people are owed due to their dignity as a human person. We ought to see that everyone has nutrition, clothing and shelter. Beyond that is extra generosity, not what is owed to someone.

In my opinion, the U.N. has long outlived its usefulness. It has simply become a forum for those who wish to garner some power from more powerful nations by combining together against them. It is now the most divisive body of bureaucrats in existence, and does very little that is constructive. It fails to protect the citizens of the world, as witnessed by its failure to act in Iraq. The U.S. formed its own coalition after waiting far too long for the U.N., and later found out that two of the leading opponents to action in Iraq - France and Russia - both had been selling weapons and night-vision goggles to Iraq, right up until the war. Then, later, the "food for oil" scandal breaks open and we discover that U.N. personnel are receiving money from the program, including Kofi Annan's son. In Rwanda, the genocide was atrocious. Who attempted to do anything there? The U.S. The facts stand for themselves: the U.N. is not your friend.
