.xxx ideas?
"After all the web is based on free exchange of ideas. The US should for a while have the most say because we built the infastructure. They also have to contribute and share costs of the infastructure."

Indeed and some of those ideas are ones the USA doesn't like which is why we need to move to Average(World) control of all aspects rather than an effective USA veto.

USA didn't pay for the bulk of infrastructure, each country paid it's own. ICANN wants to tax the net $15.8m in 2004 (5?) to pay it's junkets, so USA doesn't foot the bill.

"I do not mind showing poorer nations on how to do it, but they are going to pay for their own toys."
Thats the point, various organisations already pay their root servers, but they sync with the Verisign ones. They'll simply sync with the either an ITU run group or not have a single root, rather a group of trusted piers .

This is really being hyped as Tatum vs Tyson, but its a minor change to remove the USA effective veto. There are several compromise options on the table that would include ICANN, so even Vint gets to keep his cushy job(s).
No need for the dramatics.
