The whole notion of patenting business processes is ridiculous. And just because its Google does not make it cool. Oneday they might get bought out by someone not so cool. But if several large companies have a portfolio of patents it would stop any one company shutting out another - they must cross license. At least that way there might be some competition - in the absence of a cartel of course.
