" "It's crystal clear Google is planning for an all-out move into classified advertising," said Peter M. Zollman, founding principal of Classified Intelligence. In its patent applications, Google used the "classifieds.google.com" Web address, Classified Intelligence said. "

"Like many companies, we file patent applications on a variety of ideas that OUR EMPLOYEES may come up with. "

I put in a suggestion to you on this very topic long ago. I suggested you offer Adwords adverts to the newspaper market. I suggested you used a special URL on the advert, e.g. 12093.google.com and the text of the advert comes from the Adword advert.

If the visitor comes, you treat it like an adword click, if the adword advert was cancelled before the visitor came I suggested you show a search result on the target keywords instead.

I wanted to see that done for my own use, preferably as a Google thing, not some dumb ass patent to stop other people using it.

Welcome to the problem with business process patents, you can't tell where the idea came from, you only know it cost no risk and no investment, and may have arrived free via a suggestions email.
