Yes, they still own the desktop, web browser, office suite, and have 50
billion in the bank. Those are things that are hard to overcome. If nothing big happens in the way of a cool OPEN way to do rich web applications (it has to get better than AJAX), before the Longhorn adoption curve starts, it is game over and another 10 years of lock-in and high prices.

This is exciting! The war has started! Google is planning some sort of a D-Day atack that will shock the world, but Microsoft is digging in and Google will for sure lose a lot of troops.
