What's wrong Rep. Berman?
Afraid that your multiple positions on everything will be publicized in the same place?

If it is a news story or a statement by a public official, then it should receive the widest distribution possible without anyone fearing repercussions for distributing the information. Copyright should be denied on all news stories, as these should be public domain from inception.

Personal opinions published as editorials are NOT news as such and may be copyrighted as the writer desires. This also should be made to apply to personal opinions placed onto any web site whatsoever. Any opinion belongs to the originator and you should lead the fight to keep it that way. Copyright theft by web site "Terms and Conditions of Use" should be prohibited by law. Propose one.

But Rep. Howard Berman, a high-ranking California Democrat, said he was concerned over "the fact that mass indiscriminate distribution of unauthorized copies is still possible" and said Congress must prevent "abusive use of technology."
