It just a matter of time.
Say you subscribe to show X and show X is available at 8 PM on Tuesdays. They could configure the download to occur a set amount of time before the show is available and you get the last bits at 8 PM on that night.
Now if you are talking streaming video then that's little differnt than pay per view video on TV already. Sure it's better than Pay View but the concepts the same.
