This isnt news because of any innovation, except a marketing and business tactic innovation, which google can teach most contemporary companies.
Google want to be, and in the right track to, being the world's primary source for ANY source of information. They want it all, and they want it online within their reach. Simple as that. This is another step, and important step, towards that goal.
Good or bad? I think good, but it doesnt matter.
