"REAL" number?
HA! I've personally downloaded the program over 2.6 million times myself just to skew the statistics. My motive was simple: get the sleeping giant [MSFT] to awaken and polish up its superior browser and make it even *more* superior.

Unnecessary, I know, but, hey, you can't blame a guy for trying. I'm just doing my part to help Microsoft retain it's well-deserved dominance in the so-called "browser wars."

If all else fails---with it's billions of dollars in cash---MSFT will just buy out/pay off these upstarts and put them in their place along with Netscape.

Of course, true innovation and security may be a concern with a few "zealots" out there. But for me? I take crappy GUI, insecure browsing and weekly patches on my well-cobbled Windows machine for granted.
