Umm Yep
Sorry, but I would have to disagree with you, I am assuming you are not a US citizen. I dont beleive the US is forcing anyone else to do what THEY want. Ok lets look at it from your point of view, what country are you from, and why would this benefit you? Or your country? Lets come back to what we are forcing other countries to do.

As far as the internet domain name registration, since the original overseeing organization is american, Hmmmm, makes it american. So thus the backing seems legit, and if the US Sentate and Bush didn't back this US organization then I think the citizens would be a little upset. Just because its not as tangible as the oil example but it is still a resource and a product that can be sold. Thus money influx. So yes it is a resource. Heck, the servers reside here. What makes it not a US resource? Because you feal that the internet is the same thing as the domain name databases and maintenance?

So now that we have gone this far, instead of just making one liners and short posts to bash the US, lets stay on topic and what would you suggest to do? Relinquish the Internet Domain Name Registration and overseeing rights to someone else, that most likely will not do as well of a job since they probably won't have the resources or capital to keep it maintained properly? I would love to hear your ideas. I think its time to start holding the rest of the world accountable for their actions and remarks, just as everyone seems to blame and point the finger at the US.

Here is another thought, this site that we are posting on is an america corporate resource that is internet based. So should they relinquish control to another country? or should we not call it a resource? No we should, because it is, as the domain name servers and services are as well. If it were up to me I would keep it here.

Thanks for letting me exercise the brain a little on this topic. Great site ZDNet Gurus.
