Grow Up World
In this time of problems and issues that we as a human race face, here we are arguing over the hand outs of such technology. It hasn't been an issue, now all of a sudden everyone wants the US to give up control of a resource that has been fairly maintained and review by a group of people every year. That would be like asking Venezuala to give up its Oil resource to Japan or Iran to give up its Oil resource control to Canada.

I also think the rest of the world needs to get their technology developed. Why can't they support their own Key Root Server for Domain names? I think most people that review these things would be more appt to give up a name space that fits a particular standard. But I am sure it won't be good enough for people that are bullheaded US haters.

I am not saying the US is perfect, but neither is anyone else with this issue or any other. And me personally I would rather see the US maintain a watchful eye over domain name registrants, because they are doing an good job at preventing the malicious people from doing their worst.

I can't imagine any other country spending the dollars or resources that the US has spent to maintain this very vulnerable world wide resource. And hey if you want to put a plan together and have a your country maintain this resource, do it, but I haven't seen or heard any good plans or ideas yet.

One other point, I have been reading the news the last month and is it me but a lot of the malicious intentions and hackers are not from the US? Hmmmm ... I wonder if those hackers had closer less secure resources if they would be running rampant. I think so.
