Becuase HD's come preformated, why stock blank ones
HD come preformated with Windows or Linux, or what ever the vendor supports. Just pull the preconfigured one off the shelf and stick it in, your done.

Why stock blank Hard drives, just an extra item to manage on inventory. Get the linux (no extra charge) and format it if you don't want it
